EduCanNation is a Canadian nonprofit organization, devoted to improving the quality of cannabis education and care across our nation, and beyond! As the Association of Certified Cannabis Educators their mission is dedicated to providing the highest standard of responsible education, supporting respect for holistic Cannabis plant medicine.
The vision at Educannation is to cultivate a community of Cannabis educators from diverse backgrounds and practices that collaborate to advance Cannabis research, knowledge, and policies. Creating the primary source of responsible Cannabis education in Canada that supports the sharing of current, evidence-based, unbiased, and accurate Cannabis knowledge to Cannabis educators, the medical industry, healthcare professionals, licensed producers/holders (LPs/LH’s), government, educational institutions, and the general public.
TO ADVOCATE FOR:
• An individual's right to utilize Cannabis, whether for harm reduction, medicinal, spiritual, or recreational purposes;
• Cannabis accessibility, including credible guidance on accessing safe, affordable, and effective Cannabis products;
• De-stigmatization and respect of Cannabis utilization;
• Inclusion and representation within unbiased Cannabis research, policies, and industry;
• The inherent sovereign rights of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples for the operation of a Sovereign Cannabis Industry and the ability to lead self-determining communities.
THE STORY
Their story begins in the winter of 2020. Stacy Bobak Certified Cannabis Educator and Steph Massey Certified Cannabis Educator (www.stephiemassey.com) had just started their own independent businesses while connecting with individual clients. They quickly noticed that support systems for Cannabis Educators did not exist. Leaning on all of their combined knowledge as young breast cancer survivors, they combed through their own experiences as patients. Both Stacy and Steph had their individual Cancer cases presented to a “multi-disciplinary” panel of experts who review individual cases, as it relates to cancer treatment options. The opportunity to have many health care professionals review their cases had given them some reassurance for the course of their personalized treatment plans.
These two women wondered, “where is the ‘support system’ for Cannabis Educators?” and “who can I chat with when I have a difficult case and need expert advice?” Locally, there were only a few doctors and pharmacists that would even acknowledge cannabis as a medicine. Let alone recognize and respect a cannabis educator whose job it was to help educate about cannabis as medicine and help patients who wanted to access it for medicinal purposes.
